JBM Civil Construction was founded by industry veterans with deep roots in land development throughout North Carolina. After years of working alongside builders, engineers, municipalities and utility providers, we saw a need for a site and civil partner that brings more than equipment to the jobsite—we bring perspective.
Our team’s experience spans the full development lifecycle, from early site feasibility and land acquisition support through as-builts and platting. That means we understand the decisions and deadlines that come long before the first truck arrives, and we can help you anticipate what’s next. Whether you’re advancing a residential community, a mixed-use site or a public improvement project, we focus on the fundamentals that protect schedules and budgets: clear communication, accurate coordination and work performed the right way the first time.
JBM Civil Construction supports projects from the ground up with integrated field services—including site work, grading, utilities and paving—delivered with the same hands-on approach and attention to detail on every job. While sitework is a core capability, our value is in helping projects move forward smoothly. OUR TEAM
John Spurrell
A veteran in land development, John has held a variety of positions with several major home builders and has also built homes for his own company. John understands the intricacies of the home-building industry and offers a perspective that is helpful for many developers. John got his graduate degree from NC State University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point. He and his wife, Marisa, are long-time residents of Durham, NC.
Bao Tran
Bao began his career in his native Boston, Massachusetts, working in his family’s construction business, and went on to build his experience through major roles at one of the largest Engineering and Construction companies in North America. With a broad background in heavy civil construction, Bao brings hands-on knowledge and practical leadership to every project. He lives in Whispering Pines, NC, with his wife, Nichole, and their two children.
Marco Cortez
Marco is a natural leader who has had various leadership roles at several of the regions largest site development companies in North Carolina. Marco brings deep expertise—especially in utility installation—often becoming an engineer’s best ally thanks to his firsthand knowledge of the infrastructure that supports our communities. He lives in Wilson, NC.
